Our Work
At Jersey's Native Roots, our work is centered on restoring functional habitat that supports wildlife, strengthens ecosystems, and creates landscapes that thrive naturally over time.
We design and install landscapes that do more than look good. Our plantings help manage stormwater, improve soil health, support pollinators, reduce long-term maintenance, and promote biodiversity. Unlike traditional landscaping that depends on irrigation, fertilizers, and constant upkeep, we use plants suited to New Jersey’s conditions so they become resilient and self-sustaining once established.
We believe that healthy ecosystems and strong communities go hand in hand. Every yard we transform contributes to a more biodiverse and resilient New Jersey.

Proven Experience in Habitat Restoration
Christian and Frank bring real, hands-on restoration experience at scale.
-
At the Celery Farm Nature Preserve, they have coordinated the planting of over 30,000 plants across multiple restoration projects.
-
East Side Native Garden
Transformed a 4,000 sq ft area by removing invasive species including autumn olive and phragmites, and installing over 2,000 native plants. The site now supports more than 80 plant species and functions as a thriving habitat. -
Pollinator Garden
Restored a 1,000 sq ft area by removing invasives such as stiltgrass and bittersweet, and establishing a pollinator-focused planting including mountain mint and native seed mixes. -
Cattail Field Restoration
Rehabilitated a 10,000 sq ft site by removing aggressive invasives including phragmites, multiflora rose, and Japanese knotweed, followed by the installation of approximately 3,000 native wildflowers, grasses, and sedges. -
Greenway Meadow Restoration
Restored 12,000 sq ft into a biodiverse meadow with over 27 plant species and approximately 4,000 native plantings, creating a thriving habitat for local wildlife -
Teaneck Creek Park
Authored the official ecological management plan for Teaneck Creek Park, awarded by Bergen County Parks and currently being implemented. -
Parnell’s Path Restoration (Spring 2026)Ongoing project to install over 5,400 native grasses, sedges, and wildflowers across more than 18 species, designed to maximize biodiversity and expand habitat to support wildlife.
What This Means For You
The same principles used in large-scale restoration projects are applied to your yard.
You’re not just getting landscaping. You’re getting a space that:
-
supports birds, pollinators, and local wildlife
-
helps manage water and reduce flooding
-
requires less maintenance over time
-
stays resilient without constant inputs
-
contributes to the long-term health of New Jersey’s ecosystems

What's In The Name?
Jersey Native Roots reflects our commitment to restoring and honoring New Jersey’s diverse natural landscapes. It speaks to the many ecosystems that define this region, from meadows and wetlands to forests and waterways, and our goal of helping bring them back to life in everyday spaces.
The name is also an homage to the Lenape people, the original stewards of this land, who cultivated and sustained one of the most biodiverse regions in North America. Their relationship with the land continues to inspire our approach to restoration and care.
For Christian, this work is also personal. His connection to Lenape heritage deepens his commitment to restoring New Jersey’s ecosystems in a way that respects both the land and its history.
